MC Taylormade a reshaft makes all the difference

A golfer from the West Virginia Border came for an iron fitting and could not figure out why he struggled hitting the new Taylormade irons. After a very successful fitting we found the shafts were not as advertised, he needed a length adjustment and a slightly more flexible shaft. We found the KBS shaft to be the perfect fit for this correction. Then he states he likes orange.

The only grip I have is in the PURE grips and he needs an undersized grip. No issue. We stretched the grip just slightly and got the style, color and size on the clubs for him to be consistent.

Thanks

Single length irons and a good story

Here one we don't here very often. We get a call for a fitting, We say OK where are you from? He says Mississippi. We say Great! but why here? Thinking that wow! he came all that way for single length irons. Then Shane says oh I am up here for a vacation. laughing ourselves back to reality I precede to find a very good swing in Shane. We found that KBS shaft met perfectly with his late release and slightly more aggressive transition. We finished the clubs off with Golf Pride Super Tack grips to combat the high humidity in Mississippi (when typing this I am thinking crooked letter crooked letter, hump back, hump back I, you older folks will get it). thenew Sterling irons looked good and the initial hits were very nice. See how they turned out and Thank you Shane!!!

It just goes to show ya

That the golf set needs to be of the same designer. Andrew of Circleville was looking to get some game and was referred to us by some other AEP types from Kentucky. THANKS GUYS!! During the McGolf Fitting we found the Callaway XR irons to be a great fit for his swing tendencies and we also found the Wishon driver with the ACCRA shaft worked as good if not just a bit better than the Callaway offerings. The light weight of the shafts matched his smooth tempo and slightly early release to help eliminate the right side of the fairway. the Golf Pride CP2 pro grips also matched his grip style and hand size. See what Andrew took home for better golf. Thanks Andrew

McCallaway Set to Jackson Ohio

Jamie was looking to ensure the current set of clubs were right for his game. Unfortunately they were not. Actually he is a much better golfer than the current equipment. After a computerized McGolf fitting we matched the XR OS irons, MacDaddy wedges, XR hybrids and Big Bertha driver to his game, He is tall with longer arms and a smooth swing. Add in hitting the ground slightly before the ball and the OS iron when cut to length and bent to the proper lie are a great fit. The W grind wedges in black also matched up to his short game tendencies.

The Driver was adjusted and cut to the proper length for a rocket launcher off the tee. Check out the NEW McCallway set

and thanks Shane

NEW Wishon 565 and KBS tour 105 make a great set of irons

When I make them to the specifications found in a fitting. Patrick retuned to pick up the NEW Wishon 565s and the New KBS 105 shafts set. I finished them off with some old school Winn Excel grips. I have to say this is one of my new favorites from a design perspective. I like overall look at a glance, I like that all the corners are rounded. I like the sole has soft edges. I really like the weight in the middle although a bit old school. I think it looks great. Then install a lighter stiff shaft that makes for a boring ball flight and all is good in the world. Capped off with the softer wrapped style grip and you have one nice set of irons.  Thanks Again Patrick and Enjoy

The First set of Single Lengths Irons Leave McGolf for Maryland

The idea of single lengths have been around for some time. However a good set was never realized because club head design was lacking. regular sets of club heads needed significant modification making the set expensive.

Now Bryson DeChambeau a physics graduate, reigning amateur champion and new tour professional has made single length irons the talk of the PGA tour. His heavily modified Edel irons are in play and Bryson is performing at a high level right away.

Enter Wishon golf technologies, Timing is everything, Tom Wishon upon a request from a local pro designed a set of single length irons that produce distinct distance gaps with the use of high COR heads in the lower numbered irons and forgiving cavity back irons in the higher numbered irons to reduce the flight distance.

In theory the single length set makes all kinds of sense. However, golf being a very traditional sport, acceptance is hard to come by. It is because of the success of Bryon DeChambeau that increased acceptance is occurring.

A new McGolf Friend called from Maryland looking for the iron set. After a series of questions I began to make my first set using the UST mamayia recoil 95 shafts and golf pride 2G white grips. They are going out the door first thing Monday. Thanks and Enjoy.

See the final results. If you are interested in Single length irons come and try out the demos I have ready for testing.

A Tough Local Golfer gets McCallaway, McTaylormade and McVolkey sticks phew!

A Local high school golfer was the medalist in every match that SHE participated in last year! However this year the equipment was not right. This golfer had a great transition and very nice finish but the equipment lagged.  After a fitting and some swing tweaks discussions,  Callaway, Volkey and Taylor made were given the McGolf treatment which resulted in a better fit, better performance and in the colors she liked. I am told drives are now over 200!!. Not bad for a sophomore. See how UST and Winn helped in the making of McTaylormade and McVolkey and McCallaway clubs

Golfer from Columbus into Wishon Woods and Hybrids

Another golfer from Columbus has found McGolf because of Wishon Golf!!! Our New McGolf Friend is Patrick. Patrick has a looping swing that results in a downward strike and causing a lower trajectory. After going through a McGolf Fitting we made a tweak in the swing and then the right Wishon driver, Fairway woods and Hybrid using the 919th driver, the 950 FWs and the 775 hybrid. Installing ACCRA I series shafts and Winn Jumbo Excel grips gave the clubs a strong appearance and performance.

Some outdoor testing resulted in some pretty good drives and some very nice distances. Thanks Again Patrick

Who says wedges are not personal!

The Wishon HM Groove Wedge has been on back order because of the wild popularity and performance. The beveled sole grind, etching between grooves and weight placement behind the hitting area make the HM Groove wedge a real short game improvement tool.

If you don't believe me see the wedges below. Three different wedges for three different golfers. See what a fitting can do for you to improve your golf when completed at McGolf!!! call 740-941-4653 to schedule your next game improvement.

You'll see a graphite shaft for a light weight and control. A set of steel shafts for a stronger player and a unique graphite shaft that is extraordinarily head heavy for a 95 gram shaft.

Callway Hybrids and Drivers at McGolf

Not surprisingly, the Callaway Big Bertha driver has been a performer during the McGolf Callaway fittings. The shaft adjustments and weight slider make for some great tweaks when fine tuning your personal driver. When the right length, flex and loft are determined through actual testing the tweaks make the driver that much better!

Now!!! the Hybrids have arrived. The XR OS and XR and Apex hybrids are here. Go through a testing process to remove the guess work for your next club. See below for some of the clubs we have for immediate purchase. Call 740-941-4653 to schedule your testing for next driver, FW or hybrids.

A Truly Custom Set of Irons

Another McGolf Friend entered the shop for a full fitting looking for some distance and consistency. After some golf story swapping we got to the task at hand. Getting a "set" of clubs in the bag for William.

When the fitting was over we found a putter from Bettinardi Golf to fit the best making all sorts of putts when fit, Irons from Wishon golf technology to work very well getting the ball in the air and in the middle of the fairway then woods and hybrids from Callaway golf rounding out the set bag to ensure the best consistency and distance control for those golf trips. We added some golf pride CP2 wrap grips to make the set feel comfortable and right

See the bag set below. When you are looking for equipment that works and a fitting that is thorough, fun and informational then contact us at clubmaker@mcgolf.net or 740-941-4653

Single length irons at McGolf

Single length golf clubs physics are a fascination with tinkerers. traditionalist aren't even giving a "single" thought. Whatever side of the conversation you are on the fact single length irons are getting some serious attention because of Bryson the professional/ amateur golfer having serious success with a single length concept right now.

Wishon Golf Technologies has made a single length set available for club fitters and club makers. The Sterling iron set ranges from a 5 irons to the sand wedge and can include a hybrid 5 all to built to a single length.

Today I had my first test run with the irons during a fitting. The irons went as prescribed, meaning varying distances as the clubs should and gave great feedback to the golfer and all he needed was one swing type.

Single length irons have never really made a big splash because of the lack of good components to make that happen. Well with the Sterling set from Wishon it can now.

Callaway Irons McGolf Style.

our second McCallaway Fitting

Ed is another reason for a McGolf Fitting. Ed had having trouble with distance and control.  If he were to enter a big box store and look at his age a senior flex shaft have been given to him. However testing showed that a regular flex is better for him due to his shorter back swing and quick transition.

We found that a bigger grip is required to help with the control and help with the feeling of the club. Ed also found the proper length for him was 44". We also adjusted the loft and draw bias on the Callaway Xr Driver. We also made a swing change and with the new proper fit driver the drives were longer and in the area Ed wanted.

Ed golfs 3 to 4 times a week living the dream and this drivershould get few cokes and hot dogs from his playing buddies.

taking advantage of the McGolf Callaway fitting

Drew came to us through another McGolf friend who experience a fitting. Drew was interested in a Callaway driver. This was our first trial for the McCallaway Fitting and I think it went pretty good.

Drew is a very strong golfer with a high swing speed and smooth transition. He is a perfect reason a fitting is needed. If he was to go to a big box store the shaft assigned to Drew would have been an X flex. His swing speed is that high. However because of the way he loaded the club a "S" flex shaft produced better results, lower spin and the ball flight Drew was looking for.

We tested for length first and found a slightly shorter club length gave a consistency that top level players are striving to attain. Then we actually lowered the loft of the club and when the right shaft from the Callaway fitting cart was attached a super nice driver was made. longer straighter and more consistent. Sounds like a commercial I know but that's what happens when you go through McGolf Fitting. Thanks Drew!!
